This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide an emergency first aid response to infants, children and adults, until the arrival of medical assistance.

DRSABCD Action Plan
Managing the unconscious casualty
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Trauma and medical emergencies
Bites and stings
Emergency management of asthma and anaphylaxis

First Aid Manual

DURATION:

Option 1
8 hours in classroom training and assessment

Option 2
Online learning assessment prior to attending, 3 hours in classroom training and assessment

STATEMENT OF ATTAINMENT ISSUED:

HLTAID012 – Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting (inclusive of HLTAID009, HLTAID010 & HLTAID011)

RECERTIFICATION:

Valid 3 years from the completion date.
Annual refreshers recommended to maintain current CPR skills.
