NATIONAL UNIT OF COMPETENCY CODE: HLTAID 011

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty. The unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

COURSE CONTENTS:

DRSABCD Action Plan
Managing the unconscious casualty
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Trauma and medical emergencies

First Aid Manual

DURATION:

Option 1
8 hours in classroom training and assessment

Option 2
Online learning assessment prior to attending, 3 hours in classroom training and assessment

STATEMENT OF ATTAINMENT ISSUED:

HLTAID 009 – CPR Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
HLTAID 010 – Provide basic emergency life support
HLTAID 011 – Provide first aid

RECERTIFICATION:

Valid 3 years from the completion date.
Annual refreshers recommended to maintain current CPR skills.

HLTAID014 – Provide advanced First Aid

NOTES:

Due to the practical components of the course, participants are advised to wear comfortable casual clothing.
