CPR Course – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

NATIONAL UNIT OF COMPETENCY CODE: HLTAID 009

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

COURSE CONTENTS:

  • DRSABCD Action Plan
  • Managing the unconscious casualty
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

COURSE INCLUSIONS:

  • First aid quick guide
  • CPR resuscitation face shield

DURATION:

Option 1
4 hours classroom training and assessment

Option 2
2 hours classroom training and assessment with the completion of an online workbook.

ASSESSMENT METHODS:

  • Multiple choice quiz
  • Progressive practical assessment

STATEMENT OF ATTAINMENT ISSUED:

  • HLTAID 009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

RECERTIFICATION:

  • Valid 12 months from the completion date.
  • Annual refreshers recommended to maintain current CPR skills.
