NATIONAL UNIT OF COMPETENCY CODE: HLTAID 014

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide an advanced first aid response, including management of the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance.

COURSE CONTENTS:

Assess the situation
Manage the casualty(s)
Coordinate first aid activities until the arrival or medical assistance
Communicate essential incident details
Evaluate the incident
Management of emergency childbirth
Extrication of casualties

DURATION:

One option of 16hrs in classroom training and assessment

RECERTIFICATION:

Annual refreshers recommended to maintain current CPR skills.

Due to the practical components of the course, participants are advised to wear comfortable casual clothing.
